some old white derelict got on the bus today with his fifteen bags of rubbish. i would peg him at about 50 years of age. once we hit downtown he started shimmying in his seat. next thing i know he was trying to pop and lock. i’m totally serious. he kept looking at all the ladies in the middle of his dancing to give the head nod and smile.
when he got to his stop he picked up all his bags and began to do the male equivalent of the rapid shoulder/boob shake. then, as he was getting off the bus he started wiggling his ass and kept looking back at the bus driver and making strange and erratic eyebrow movements.
one day i’m going to look back and be thankful for having to ride the bus to and from school every fucking day.

per usual, i was on the bus this morning on my way to school. i thought i would leave my apartment much earlier and catch breakfast at sam’s no. 3…but it didn’t happen. i am, however, pretty happy i didn’t.
at one of the bus stops, i saw an elderly black man in a blue suede suit. hair all done up and combed, snazzy sunglasses and the folded hankies in the front pocket. the whole god damn nine yards. after a little while, i realize the elderly black man is actually an elderly black woman, done up the whole god damn nine yards.
i wish i could have gotten a picture cause it was just that fantastic. seriously.

about a year ago i bought a new mp3 player and got all gung ho about putting new music on it. to date, i have only created one mix and have listened to it for the past year. don’t get me wrong, i absolutely love all of the songs on here…but sometimes it gets old. it has been put on my mp3 player and taken off about 10 times over the course of the year, but it always comes back.
earlier in the evening i started thinking about how out of touch i am with music and need to find a way to get back finding (GOOD) new music. of course, then i realize i have subscriptions to paste AND spin. if i had bothered to even open the magazines and flip through them i bet i could have found one or two songs from what look like interesting bands streaming on the web. and of course, there is always youtube.
i should also mention i have a been receiving these magazines through a subscription for the better part of the year and have never opened a single one. yikes. i do recycle!
anyway…
paste magazine comes with a sampler cd each month and i ripped the one from november and thought i would give it a whirl. i have to admit…it’s pretty good. and i wanted to share. (i copied and pasted the track listing from the website so if you click on the links…it’s your own fault) DOWNLOAD SAMPLER

denver had almost 1000 people show up to rally/march against prop 8. it was a pretty amazing turnout for this little big city.
there were only five or so anti-gay protestors, and they didn’t seem to have a whole lot of effect on the whole ordeal.
i got all caught up in the rabble rousing, so i didn’t take very many pics. but here they are!

i received the fall from netflix on blu-ray. but i’m not really here to talk about the fall. it actually took me three tries to get through the damn movie because i fell asleep twice. it was really pretty to look at though.
anyway, after having the fall for almost two weeks and school getting on crazy on me, i pretty much forgot about all the other stuff in my queue. debs was next on the list and it showed up in my mailbox a couple days ago.
i couldn’t remember what the movie was about and i didn’t get a whole lot from the short synopsis on the sleeve…except that it was some sort of spy movie. ok…
so i pop it in before bed thinking i’ll watch it for just a few and wind down. the first few minutes of the movie (well, the whole movie i guess) is a bunch of ridiculous campy spy spoof. serious. i remember thinking to myself, wtf was i thinking when i queued this movie up. honestly, i couldn’t imagine why i would want to watch this movie at all. then the joke about mixing french and english (frenglish) came in and i busted up laughing.
this movie has some pretty awful acting. the story is absolutely ridiculous. and at the same time it was totally cute and hilarious. whoever the lady is that was playing lucy diamond is super hot and the whole awkward hermit wanna be a pirate thing was even better! and there were some damn good lines in the movie that just made me start laughing really loudly while half asleep.
i would classify this under, pretty entertaining when there is nothing better on and would probably watch it again, if it were on tv, and there was nothing better on.

or i have just become one lazy motherfucker.
i used to be so organized with each class having its own binder, loose leaf paper to take notes on, dividers for all the different crap, etc…now i have one binder with homework and some paper in it, but not for note taking. for note taking i carry a single subject spiral bound notebook and write the date and class on the top. i never worried about getting shit mixed up because i scan my notes in all the time and have them in one central location.
today, while i was trying to (yet again) slim down the crap i carry to school, i thought about getting rid of the notebook and just using the paper in my lone 1/4″ binder. it was then i realized that i had switched out my notebooks a few times and never thought anything of it because i scanned in all my stuff. which led me see that throughout the course of the semester, i have yet to go back and look at my notes. not a single solitary note taking session was referred back to. i also don’t take notes in half of my classes. i mostly rely on the book for all the information i need.
……..
………………
er….
so i guess i can do away with the notebook. i should also probably start trying harder? :\

my fields professor is a ninety year old man. no joke. i have professors who have had this guy for fields. i think he has been teaching for like sixty years or something like that. of course, with such responsibility comes many perks. one of which seems to be saying whatever the hell he feels like because no one is going to fire the man. i think he has taught all sixty years at the university of colorado. LOL.
it seems every class period there are some folks talking outside in the hallway rather loudly, and the professor will stop in the middle of the lecture to close the door. what makes this so fun is what he decides to say to the people outside right before closing the door.
today was the best all semester. i think someone was talking on the phone, but this guy was pacing back and forth in the hallway because the sound of his voice would wane momentarily and then come back full force. after a couple minutes of this my professor went over to the door, paused in the doorway and said, ‘i’m going to close this door so you can talk louder!’ and then shut the door.
it took just about everything i had to not fall over laughing.

seriously, i went out and drinking and dancing the last two nights and today i feel just a smidge above death. friday night was soya’s birthday celebration so patty and i headed out to first friday and proceeded to get our drink on. i also had to run away from the crazy straight boys that kept trying to grab my ass. wtf? there were lots of bouncy asians and it was pretty fun.
last night kelly and i headed out to wish. i have to say…it was not what i expected. it might turn into the new hipster joint, but it was lacking quite a bit. the only redeeming thing about it was that the drinks were super strong. and i mean SUPER strong. well, i don’t know what it is but lately every time i go out the bartenders make these ridiculous drinks…and i don’t actually like to feel the burn as my cocktail goes down. anyway, ran into my buddy ryan and we all headed out to vinyl for sir thomas’ birthday celebration…and ran into a few other folks there as well. turns out thomas was opening for seb fontaine and it was good music time!
also, last night, kelly and i went out to sushi tazu (my fave sushi joint in denver) for dinner. was greeted by the same friendly faces and ate a massive quantity of sushi. they had a new roll that they called the tropicana roll and MOTHER OF GOD was it delicious. inside was avocado and mango and the roll was topped with salmon and mango sauce. SO FUCKING GOOD. they also hired a new guy who started making desserts and we settled on the green tea cheesecake. mmmmm. they also had coconut creme brulee, chocolate hot thunder (lol?), and something else that looked delicious. i must go back and try them out.
today i need to get something to eat and tutor.
and work on some homework like always…
